YWAM Baguio (Baguio Training Center) was pioneered/founded in 1972.
It is the first permanent YWAM base in the Philippines and the location of Asia’s first Discipleship Training School (DTS).
- Early Focus: Ministry to students, a preschool, and outreach from Baguio into mountain areas (e.g., Ifugao, Benguet, Mountain Province) as well as other parts of the country. Indigenous churches were also planted in squatter communities and among tribal peoples.
- Context in YWAM Philippines: This was an early milestone after the first YWAM teams arrived in the Philippines around 1968. Baguio served as a foundational hub from which the broader national ministry expanded.
Current address: #1 Maryhills, Loakan Proper, Baguio City, 2600, Philippines (P.O. Box 229). It continues as an active training center focused on discipleship, evangelism, and missions.

Over the decades, the base has focused on discipleship, evangelism, community outreach, children’s ministries (such as Vacation Bible Schools), worship, intercession, and short-term missions. It serves as a hub for training and sending workers, particularly reaching local youth and families in the bustling urban environment of northern Mindanao. Today, under leaders like Base Leader Victor and Blaine Palma, YWAM Carmen continues to embody YWAM’s global call “to know God and to make Him known” through practical mercy ministries, Bible teaching, and cross-cultural teams in the Philippines and beyond.
