Purchased YWAM property in Tacloban

Ministry Highlights

Benefit Dinner

ATC1

On August 8 a benefit dinner was held at YWAM ATC for the new operating location in Tacloban, Leyte. Our goal was to raise funds towards paying off the remaining balance of the house in Imelda Village. We hosted several guest artists including Lou Chingching, Rachel Pranoto, Nesta Ip, Jeffery “Part” Cruz and crew, and other local groups. It was attended by over 200 people and our final amount was 119,000 pesos and a single gift of 300,000 given towards the property. We are especially grateful for the people who prepared the food and all the artists and crew who gave of their time and talents towards this endeavor.

Staff Christmas Party

ATC2

Over the last year or so we’ve seen staff rise up and move on to other places. Sad to say we haven’t seen many new staff came in for a while. Our work in Tacloban has also taken from us temporarily so that the base with just one, DTS, seemed rather quiet. Then, just before Christmas our outreach teams returned, both the Foundations for Counseling Ministry and the July DTS. They came in a few days before their graduation and the 2014 Christmas party. On the big day the dining room was filled up, where we enjoyed a celebratory feast, listened to testimonies, watched dramas, dances and special numbers. Friends and parents were in attendance enjoying the visual presentations and offerings. The latest school was about to be commissioned and sent out on their field experience. The event captures so well the comings & goings at ATC.

It’s always difficult trimming the program because this is a great opportunity to lift up the name of the Lord and give Him the glory, praise the base staff and thank everyone for everything. Starting at 5 and going on til 9:30pm was a long time but we all had a great time.

Community Christmas Party

The staff had been putting things together, making plans, gathering the finances, cramming the agenda, planning the food, the presents , the games in the Francisville Homeowners Association basketball court for the annual Christmas children’s ministry party. This is a major relationship celebration, money coming from all over the world to make it happen. Come the day in they came dressed in team colors for easy identification. The October DTS were marshalling, helping, and containing, over 200 children from 3 years old and upwards from 3 different areas. Not much different from Kamias winning the singing competition. They were young, enthusiastic and so full of joy and life. They were surprised & delighted to win. In a couple of hours it was over for another year and we were cleaning up. The children loved being together in the name of Jesus. Was it worth it? Well we’re already making plans for next year.

Ministry Highlights

Chronological Bible Core Course – January 15, 2016

rsz_cbcc

The second Batch of the School Chronological Bible Core Course (CBCC) was a success with 5 students graduating. We thank God for the opportunity that he gave us as a team for CBCC. Each and every one of us were grateful of His faithfulness in providing everything that we needed. Chronological Bible Core Course is a short version of SBS, this was pioneered by Cliff and Amaris Davies from YWAM Montana and YWAM L.A. We found that this is a perfect course for Missionaries and Lay man who want to know and learn about the Bible for 3 months. We have an upcoming school on the 15th of January for those looking to expand their knowledge of the Word of God.

After Care Ministry for Girls

rsz_cbcc1

We pioneered the After Care Ministry for Girls who don’t have a home or a family to go back to. The two girls in the picture have been with us for more than a year and just graduated from Elementary.

Children’s Ministry

rsz_cbcc2

Around 50 children are joining our Bible Study every Saturday. From May 13 to 15, 2015 we conducted a Daily Vacation Bible School for the children. We saw more than 50 children from the neighbourhood join in from the ages of 5 to 16 years old. It was amazing to see how the kids and the parents responded the Gospel. We thank God for providing the materials and needs of the DVBS.

Testimony

rsz_1rsz_cbcc6 Cathy Jane L. Dumanlag, CBCC Student

Before, I knew that there is a “God” but I didn’t know who He really is in my  life. But the time that I really got to know Him was during my CBCC school.  That was God’s instrument in allowing me to know Him deeper. It made a big  impact in my life towards God in many ways. Before I became a Christian  and learned how to read and appreciate the Bible, I used to worship idols. To  the extent that I hated the word “God Bless” or anything that comes from the  bible or the word of God and neglected the things that were more important.  And that was the most stupid thing I’ve ever done and I regret that I did that.  But after the school, it made me realize that I was so wrong and I should fear  the Lord and make him the top priority in my life. So as of now, God is really  my strength and I am now more faithful to Him and I am ready to take my next step in knowing God more. And I am hoping that I can pursue my DTS soon by the grace of God.

Prayer Points:

  • More students and staff for the upcoming Chronological Biblical Core Course (CBCC) starting on January 15, 2016

The 3rd annual National Leadership Consultation was a great blessing to all. Over 70 leaders from all over YWAM Philippines converged in Talisay for 4 days of engaging worship, inspirational teachings, meaningful fellowship and great food.

Of course everyone was excited for the raffle but no one was disappointed with what they received from the Lord. Here are some feedback from some of the leaders who attended.

” This has been such a great week for me. It has been inspiring to come together with so many great people. The session on being still at the feet of Jesus was precious to me. I am certainly committed to practice that. God is drawing me into a deeper relationship with Him.” – Morten Olesen, YWAM Baguio

“My highlight was the teaching of Dave Shields on Business without Devotion. It really showed my heart and I received healing from secret hurts. I thank God for His freedom!” – Joel Hapa, YWAM Cebu

“The consultation was very refreshing. It was good to have times of worship, sharing of hearts, reminders, prayer updates, and fellowship. It was great seeing younger leaders in attendance and enjoying the hospitality of YWAM Cebu.” – Jermane Cabey, YWAM Davao

“This week was a very powerful week for me. A time to get to know God more, know myself, others and the leadership that God has called me to do. Going deeper into His presence is the main key to having him move in this mission. By just knowing the love of God and moving into it, it will bring impact to the people around me.” – Cristina Viado, YWAM Davao

“I’m so blessed for every session we had for the Lord met me personally and ministered to me through the teachings, worship and prayer times. I feel refreshed and strengthened.” – Nola Joy Anza, YWAM King’s Kids

“To be honest, I have been empowered and encouraged. It’s something different from the past leader’s meetings. Not that the past meetings were less spiritual, but this time I really really enjoyed. God is awesome!” – Marlon Pitas, YWAM Urban Ministries Baguio

“When I was seemingly at my lowest point and feeling burnt out, God really refreshed me, refilled me and rebuilt me. I was so blessed to be here.” – Michael Casey, YWAM Nehemiah House, Cagayan

“There is variety in our schedules and the topics were really timely and very practical. It was really easy to understand and apply. The lovefeast and raffle was really fun.” – Jesamin Gurapo, YWAM Samar

“Every time I attend a consultation I always get refreshed and the fellowship of our family in YWAM always encourages me. It is encouraging to see the big picture rather than your situation and the burden of the ministry. It was great!” – Jayson Tan, YWAM Cagayan

“One of my highlights was the worship sessions because they left room for the Holy Spirit to move as well as times to listen and respond to Him. There were powerful times where I sensed the Father’s presence and the joy of the Lord.” – Heidi, YWAM Palawan

leaders

The only drawback to our amazing time together was a flu bug that afflicted many of the leaders. Please pray for their recovery! See you all next year! Maybe this time we will be able to raffle off a real car :p HAHAHA

YWAM Cebu Update- February 2015

YWAM Cebu Update- February 2015

tribes
One of the June DTS teams trekking through the mountains of Bukidnon to minister to the Manobo Tribe.

Highlights:

1. The June Sports DTS Major Outreach goes to the mountains and the islands

Split into two teams, the June Sports DTS spent their major outreach from September to December in different locations around the Visayas and Mindanao. Working with YWAM Nasuli, Cebu, Butuan and Surigao and various local churches, the teams were able to reach many with the gospel of Christ.  The teams were able to reach Higaunon and Manobo tribes in the Bukidnon, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte areas.

The teams came back with great stories of reaching people hungry for the word of God, children curious to see new faces in their remote barangays, family members blessed to see their loved ones and stories of  faith, restitution and salvation.  God is indeed faithful as He kept the team safe throughout their travels and provided for their needs.

After a three-month outreach, the June DTS had their graduation last December 12, 2014 with 10 students who finished with flying colors.  Three students are coming back to staff at the base.

2. October DTS begins

October 6, 2014 marked the beginning of a life-changing adventure for 14 individuals.  The October DTS has a staff team of 6 with 14 students coming from all over the Philippines and three from Germany.

3. Celebrating Jesus Fiesta for the 10th year in a row

jesusfiesta1

Last December 06, 2014 we celebrated our 10th Jesus Fiesta with the theme “Fruitful Journey With God”. There were about 1500 children and parents from eight different ministry locations. This much awaited event was blessed by a team of 38 from one of our partners, Bethesda Bedok Tampines Church (BBTC) from Singapore. BBTC has been regularly sending teams every Jesus Fiesta for the past four years. YWAM Cebu also partnered with Buckets for Jesus and Please Pass the Bread and many other individuals and organizations.

We praise God for His faithfulness in our kids ministry as we added another location last May.

New Ministries:

1. Expansion of our kids ministry to a new location

This brings us to a total of nine locations where we serve on a weekly basis to share the love of Jesus to the kids in Talisay.

2. House in Bogo

bogohouse

Since October 2014, we began renting a house in Bogo City in line with the building project there. Our goal was to strengthen our partnership with the local government, local church and build relationship with the beneficiaries of the YWAM Village as well as help in the building process. YWAM staff and outreach teams have stayed at the house since. The YWAM Village is located about 30 mins from the city proper. Teams have helped in some initial preparation for the building project as well as done evangelism in the area.

DTS outreach teams and base staff partner with local churches of Bogo for ministry in and around the city.  The BBTC team also hosted a Thanksgiving Celebration last Dec. 13, 2014 for beneficiaries of the YWAM Village.  It was an opportunity to share the gospel as well as to get to know the families we will be partnering with.

staffandteam
Some YWAM Cebu staff along with a visiting international team

One year after Typhoon Yolanda struck and God is still working mightily in the different ministries that were started after the typhoon.  We praise God for the many outreach teams who came to partner with us.  International teams have been sent off to Tacloban and Ormoc in Leyte, Calbayog, Samar, Dumaguete, Negros Oriental and Bantayan and Bogo in Cebu.

We praise God for His faithfulness in providing for the building project in Bogo City. We praise God for the base staff who worked hard these past months to accommodate the growing ministry needs.  We praise God for bringing us DTS students from all over the nation and beyond.

Prayer Points:

  • Oct DTS has been split into 2 teams: Luzon and Thailand. Their outreach will be from Jan. 19 to Mar. 20. Please pray for safety, protection, good health and team unity. Pray for God’s favor with visas and travel, provision/finances. Please pray for open doors for ministry and hearts ready to receive the Gospel.
  • Please pray for the staff of YWAM Cebu. Pray that God will give them all strength for the ministry and finances to meet their staff fees. Please also pray for more people to come and join YWAM Cebu.
  • Please pray that God will continue to bless the progress of the Bogo YWAM Village. We still need a lot of finances if we are to build 150 homes. We also need a lot of staff to stay in Bogo City to oversee and work through construction etc.
  • Please pray that as international teams come to the Philippines that God would protect them and allow them to easily adjust to our culture and weather. Pray that God will anoint them and they would be bold to preach the Good News of our risen Savior.

Opportunities for Involvement:

  • Volunteer to help us build the YWAM Village! We are looking for people willing to do construction work or heavy labor as we start building houses. We have a target of 150 homes that will benefit 150 families affected by Typhoon Yolanda. If you cannot do heavy labor we always need people in Bogo doing evangelism and partnering with local churches.
  • Volunteer at the YWAM Talisay Base! Come and join us at YWAM Cebu and you can help serve in the kitchen, as part of the maintenance crew or hospitality crew. We are always looking for willing hands to help us with all that we do.

As 2015 came rushing in, we look forward to seeing God move over our different ministry locations, our kids, youth and parents, in our DTSs and in our different expressions of mercy and evangelism.  All glory belongs to God.

Thank you for partnering with us! God bless you!
